Collections of Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo

This is the best Sankranthi for Tollywood. The Telugu Cinema industry is shining again. The box-office is on fire with the releases of Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’.

‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ starring Mahesh Babu was released on Jan 11 and the film took in about Rs 42 crore in AP and Telangana making it one of the biggest openings ever in Tollywood. The film got mixed talk but the collections were superb. At the USA box-office, the film has collected about 1.59 million dollars. So, its worldwide collection in two days is huge. The film should hold well now as the competition from Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’ is strong.

Despite having the disadvantage of releasing after two big releases and getting less number of screens, Allu Arjun and Trivikram’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramlo’ smashed in with huge openings. Early estimates suggest, the film that was released on Sunday (Jan 12), has raked in about Rs 25 crore share from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This is HUGE with less number of screens. The biggest advantage this film has is a great word-of-mouth and positive reviews. The film will bank on it from here.

‘Ala Vaikunthapurramlo’ has also raked in about $1.39 million from the USA and it also opened on big in Australia and other overseas areas. So, the film’s first day worldwide collection would be huge.

Altogether, both these Sankranthi movies have put box-office on fire.
