Day 1: Venky Mama posts the career-best amount of Rs 8 Cr

As expected, Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya starrer ‘Venky Mama’ took the box-office by the storm. On the first day, the film posted a career-best opening. ‘Venky Mama’, a story about an uncle and nephew, was released on December 13. The film took about Rs 6.82 crore from Telugu states on the first day of its release on December 13, while it collected Rs 40 lakhs from Karnataka and Rs 24 Lakhs from Chennai. Altogether, the day 1 collection in the Indian domestic market is pegged at Rs 7.22 crore.

Both in Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya’s individual careers, this is a career-best opening. The uncle and nephew duo have generated great interest among the audiences. Also, Venkatesh is in a great form these days and his previous film ‘F2’ was a huge blockbuster.

The Bobby-directed film witnessed impressive footfalls from the morning show itself. While reviews were mixed, the word of mouth is positive. So it will most certainly boost the earnings of the film on Saturday and Sunday. 

The commercial entertainer set in Godavari district had some fun moments in the first half and two songs are catchy. But the movie entirely shouldered on Venkatesh’s image and performance.
