Wknd BO: Mathu Vadalara's ordinary show, PRP a big winner
For the second consecutive weekend, Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Prati Roju Pandaage’ continued its stronghold at the box-office. The movie had put up good numbers last weekend pushing all other new releases to the corner. The family drama is attracting the audiences in all areas in Andhra, Nizam and the USA in good numbers. The film has collected about Rs 24+ crore share so far. In the USA, it had collected 550k dollars while the Australia market has brought in another 100k dollars.
On the eve of Christmas, Sri Simha starrer ‘Mathu Vadalara’ and Raj Tarun’s ‘Iddari Lokam Okate’ hit the screens. While ‘Mathu Vadalara’ won praise from critics, ‘Iddari Lokam Okate’ received low ratings. Despite superb word-of-mouth and good ratings, ‘Mathu Vadalara’ has not succeeded in posting big numbers. The film’s total share in its five days stands at Rs 1.30 crore with 65 lakhs coming from Nizam and 25 lakhs ($65k) coming from the USA. This is a pretty ordinary show for a movie that won such rave reviews and has backing from biggies. Since this is a film that is made on a shoestring budget with non-stars it can be seen as an impressive number.
Raj Tarun’s ‘Iddari Lokam Okate’ was a washout. The film collected a mere Rs 65 lakhs share in its five days.
The leftovers Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya starrer ‘Venky Mama’ broke even and Balakrishna’s ‘Ruler’ is a disaster.
