Actors working on Telugu dialects

Telugu directors are increasingly focusing on lead actors speaking the dialect of the region the story is set in. In ‘Rangasthalam’, we have seen both Ram Charan and Samantha (dubbing artiste) conversing in a thick Godavari accent. NTR spoke dialogues in Rayalaseema slang in Trivikram directed ‘Aravindha Sametha’ with ease. Vijay Deverakonda is famous for reviving the natural Telangana dialect on the Telugu screen. 

Now, several Telugu actors and actresses are also working on learning and getting various dialects of the Telugu states – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana perfect. Dialogues with a dialect are the new mantra.

In Sukumar directed ‘Pushpa’ which is set in the region of Seshachalam forests in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, both the lead actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna will speak in Chittoor region slang. They have hired linguists to get the slang right. The film will hit the floors when the movie shootings are allowed.

In Rajamouli’s big-budgeted movie ‘RRR’, both NTR and Ram Charan will say the dialogues with the thick accent of Telangana and Godavari regions respectively.

Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Love Story’ is set in the backdrop of Hyderabad city but the protagonists come from rural Telangana to the city for livelihood. So, Naga Chaitanya for the first time in his career is practicing the Telangana dialect. Sai Pallavi is known for getting this slang perfect.

In Gopichand starrer Sampath Nandi directed ‘Seetimaarr’, Tamannaah is playing the role of a Kabaddi coach of the Telangana team and she will speak with Nalgonda slang. Gopichand is playing the coach of the Andhra team. In ‘Narappa’, the Telugu remake of Tamil movie ‘Asuran’, Venkatesh will be seen mouthing dialogues in Rayalaseema slang. Similarly, Ram Charan will speak Srikakulam dialect in ‘Acharya’.
