Bollywood eyes on Telugu cinema

There was a time when Telugu cinema was looked down upon in many ways from the Hindi audience. The stars were made fun of, dances were spoofed and more than anything, fans were made a joke for worshiping their stars as gods. But that is not the case anymore now. Post ‘Baahubali’, Telugu cinema is the most talked about and followed film industry in the country these days.

The latest trend is that big actors in Hindi want to act in Telugu movies now. Names like Rajamouli and Shankar have changed things upside down and as they make films which have a pan India appeal. For this, they are roping in actors from Hindi to give their film a larger appeal.

So, the thought process for actors in Bollywood has changed as many actors want to be a part of projects in Telugu and Tamil now. The latest example was when Jhanvi Kapoor said in an interview that she wanted to act with Vijay Devarakonda at any cost. This clearly shows the craze the actors in Mumbai have on Telugu cinema now.

Some of them who are actively changing the trend is Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, Jackie Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nana Patekar, Vidya Balan, Sunil Shetty, who are big names and have done a film each here in the south. Big B is acting as Chiranjeevi’s guru in ‘Sye Raa’, Vivek Oberai is playing main villain in Ram Charan’s upcoming movie ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ and Vidya Balan is the leading lady in NTR Biopic.

Neil Nithin Mukesh recently appeared as villain in ‘Kavacham’ and he will also be seen in a crucial role in Prabhas’s ‘Saaho’.

Akshay Kumar and Nana Patekar were seen in Rajinikanth’s recent movies.

This clearly shows the manner in which the crossover is being done. So, Indian films are no more Bollywood centric these days and Tollywood is leading from the front and showing the world what they are worthy of.
