Directors forced to play the waiting game

Times have changed in such a way that you are as good as long as your last hit film in the movie-making business. Even if you give the biggest of the hits and do not have projects in hand, you are not in the news. Some of the successful Tollywood directors are in such stage of their careers. Even after having a star tag attached to them, they are not able to kick start their projects.

Parasuram is the biggest example among those. Even after giving a solid hit in the form of ‘Geetha Govindam’ his next film has not been confirmed. He is ready with his story and was supposed to do a film with Bunny. That did not materialize for him and is on the lookout for another star who can fill in the shoes.

Same is the case with Maruthi too. He is waiting for several heroes to accept his new project after ‘Sailaja Reddy Alludu’ but all of them are busy with their prior commitments. Maruthi is a director who makes films on a quick basis but till now he not locked the hero of his film and is working on the script fine tuning it. To clarify further, he posted on Twitter, “Saw many combinations (news articles) about my next film on my time line, would love to do with all the heroes you have mentioned. But for now I am busy writing a script which made me excited. Will announce the details once it finished.”

One more director who is also in that zone is Mohanakrishna Indraganti. After the success of ‘Sammohanam’, he was supposed to make a film with Nani but as the latter is busy with two films, he is also waiting in the wings. Such a waiting game can be quite depressing for the makers who want to get on with their careers and make the most of their success.

On the other hand, there are also directors who have their stars set but wait for them to join their projects. Koratala Shiva is one director who is waiting for Chiranjeevi for over a year to start his project. But things are not yet clear when the project will start. A director like Vamsi Paidipally had to wait two long years to start Maharshi with Mahesh which is finally on floors now.

Though these directors get paid a lot for these films, one thing is sure that if they want to make films with stars, they have no option but to wait for them which can be very stressful.
