Telugu Cinema 2018: The ladies did perform well...
Tollywood is a place where heroines make a splash every year. Newcomers become star heroines and several debutantes make their entry with a bang. 2018 was no different as a number of heroines made their presence felt in the industry. We look at some of them who made a solid impact this year.
Anushka
The hit streak of 2018 started off with Anushka's 'Bhaagamathie'. Anushka once again proved that there is no one better than her when it comes to pulling crowds to the theaters. Being a female-oriented film, 'Bhaagamathie' made good profits and once again proved Anushka's superstardom. Since then, she is not seen much and is now gearing up to shoot a film in the production of Kona Venkat.
Keerthy Suresh
This year undoubtedly belongs to Keerthy Suresh and there are no two ways about it. She single-handedly carried 'Mahanati' on her shoulders and made it a classic. The way she emulated the great Savithri won everyone's hearts and became an overnight sensation. While 'Agnyathavaasi' was a flop, she gave hits like 'Sarkar' and 'Pandem Kodi 2' this year.
Rashmika
One more heroine who became a superstar of sorts is none other than Rashmika. She made her debut with 'Chalo' which became a super hit. But Rashmika became a sensation with the success of 'Geetha Govindam'. Be it her looks, expressions or performance she dominated the proceedings completely. Rashmika is a star to watch out for and ended the year with the 'Devadas' which didn't help her much though.
Samantha
Everyone thought that Samantha's career was mostly nearing its end but she shocked everyone with her performance in 'Rangasthalam'. She took the de-glam route and gave a solid performance. The film was a rage and she bounced back with a bang and ended the year with her first female-oriented film 'U-Turn'. She celebrated her first marriage anniversary this year and has some good projects in hand for 2019. She also appeared in 'Abhimanyudu' and 'Mahanati' this year.
Payal Rajput
Payal is one actress who scorched the screens with her bold act in 'RX100'. She was one of the most talked about heroines in Tollywood and became an overnight sensation with her glamor and negative role in the film. She has bagged two projects in 2019 and will be a heroine to watch out for.
Pooja Hegde
Pooja Hegde also consolidated her position in Tollywood with the film 'Aravinda Sametha'. Her item song Jigelu Rani in 'Rangasthala'm became a rage and her other film 'Sakshyam' was a flop. She is the top heroine as of now and has biggies like 'Maharshi' and 'Saaho' lined up for release in 2019.
Aditi Rao
This Bollywood bombshell made her debut with 'Sammohanam' and proved what an actress she is. She then acted in Mani Ratnam's 'Nawab' and ended the year with a very interesting film 'Antariksham'. She has many fans here and is looking to consolidate her position in Tollywood now.
Apart from these heroines, stars like Raashi Khanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Kiara Advani, Shobita Dhulipala had one good hit this year and made their presence felt. Kiara Advani is leading from the front as she has Boyapati's next ready for a release.
