Here’s the good news. Superstar Rajinikanth and Shankar’s magnum opus ‘2.0’ is releasing this year itself. After getting postponed many times, ‘2.0’ has finally locked its release date as November 29, 2018. The makers of ‘2.0’ today made this surprising announcement.

Fans and trade thought that the film would not make it to theaters this year as there were many speculations about the film that it has landed in huge financial mess.

It is also known fact that the graphical team refused to finish the work by this August as demanded by Shankar. Much to his relief, the VFX team has finally given Shankar the final date of handing over the work. Hence he has decided to release it on November 29, 2019. Shankar tweeted, “Hi everyone.. atlast the vfx companies promised the final delivery date of the vfx shots. The movie will release on nov 29th 2018.”

Since Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’ has locked Christmas period for its release and Aamir Khan’s ‘Thugs of Hindustan’ locked Deepavali period for its release, the makers of ‘2.0’ chose this odd date: Nov 29. It is going to release in non-holiday period.

‘2.0’ is prequel to Shankar’s massive hit ‘Robo’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth. This prequel stars Rajinikanth, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. Lyca Productions is producing it with whopping Rs 400 Cr budget in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. It will be released in all languages simultaneously. A R Rehman has given the music and the songs were released last year itself and the music has failed to create any impact.

Some distributors who bought the film exerted pressure on Shankar and producer to return their advance amount as the film’s getting delayed. They must be relieved now with this announcement.
