2019: Venkatesh's show all the way

Post the success of ‘Drishyam’ in 2014, Venkatesh slowed down in a big way in the following years. ‘Babu Bangaram’, ‘Guru’ and ‘Gopala Gopala’ were modest performers at the box office. Many had written him off and said that it is high time he does character roles in films. Venkatesh also went underground and did not sign films back to back.
But it was Anil Raipudi who changed everything for Venkatesh. The manner in which he re-invented Venkatesh and gave him a comedy role which is his strength worked supremely well for the senior superstar. ‘F2’ was released amidst heavy competition during Sankranthi 2019 but stood out as a full-on family entertainer and brought back Venky in the game and proved that old is always gold. The film went on to collect more than Rs 80 crore and became the number one hit in his career.
Venky took some time and signed his family film ‘Venky Mama’ with Chay which released during the year-end. This film also opened to some good collections and pleased its target audience. On the personal front, Venkatesh’s married off his elder daughter. In 2020, he will remake Dhanush's ‘Asuran’ in Telugu. Overall, 2019 was a year of the comeback for victory Venkatesh.
