83: It is Jiiva, not Vijay Deverakonda

Vijay Deverakonda was the first choice as one of the key roles for the makers of ’83, which is set to recreate the cricket legend Kapil Dev led historic Cricket world cup win in 1983 on screen. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is essaying the role of Kapil Dev in this drama that is being directed by Kabir Khan. Vijay Deverakonda was approached to play cricketer Srikkanth’s role in the film.

Even before Vijay Deverakonda informed his decision to the makers, Bollywood media reported that he’d signed the movie. However, Vijay D later slammed the reports and he said he’s not doing the film as he is committed to other assignments.

Now the makers have roped in Kollywood star Jiiva to essay Srikkanth’s role. The film will start rolling soon.
