In the wake of cases and protests from general public over his comments made at the audio launch of 'Savitri', Nandamuri Balakrishna today responded and gave clarification. He said his speech was made in the context of the roles that he generally plays on the screen.

He said he wasn't referring to any women or heroines. "I was telling how the fans expect me to do certain kind of roles and the characterizations of the protagonists," he said in a statement. Balakrishna also said he is offering apologies if anyone is hurt by his speech.

The controversy erupted when Balakrishna said that his fans won't accept him if he runs after women even now. "Either I have to kiss them or make them pregnant," he said while talking in same jest as at the audio launch of Nara Rohith starrer 'Savitri'. His speech was slammed by one and all on the social media and later politicians like Roja and Jayaprakash Narayan lambasted him. Some lawyers also filed case on Balakrishna.
