Girish Kasaravalli, who is one of the pioneers of parallel cinema in India is unhappy with the selection of S S Rajamouli’s Baahubali as best film at the 63rd National awards. He was of the opinion that the subaltern communities have been featured insensitively in the film.

Speaking at a function organized to felicitate people from the Kannada film industry who have won national film awards, Kasaravalli said that Baahubali getting the national award has already triggered a nationwide debate. The jury has ignored films that have dealt with issues troubling the society, he added.
