Pawan Kalyan: Let my personal life be personal

Pawan Kalyan has given a series of interviews. Speaking on a range of issues, Power Star talks about his future political strategy, his equations with Chiranjeevi, and more.

On the response to Sardaar Gabbar Singh:

As an actor, I do my my best. I can't be bothering about the distributors. Since the days of 'Toli Prema', I have stopped worrying about the result. Regardless of hit or miss, openings to my films have been increasing film after film just like my remuneration. Everyone talks about records, but I don't know anything of that.

On his future projects:

My next film will be in the direction of SJ Suryah.  It's a love story in the backdrop of factionalism.  Deciding upon remaking 'Vedhalam' will take time.

On resolving problems in film industry:

Piracy is a major threat to the entertainment industry. We can't do anything about this except raising awareness. This can go only if people change. As far as other problems are concerned, I am ready to do whatever I can to resolve them.

On quitting cinema:

I want to quit cinema right away. I can do it anytime. I want to dedicate full time to politics.  As of now, I have certain commitments. I have given these commitments to my friends so that I can give up cinema anytime whenever I feel like doing so.

On the changing dynamics with Chiranjeevi:

I have nothing personal against my brother.  If you ask me how my relationship with him is going to be in future, I don't know. Future is not in my hands. I have tried to convey my views to him; he understands me, although he disagrees with me.  At functions, fans cheer my name when I am not present. I don't have to prove my loyalty to him everytime.

On doing the questioning in politics:

I am here to speak up for people. You may say that so far I have raised my voice on only a few issues. But I don't go to extremes unless it's inevitable. I can go to Delhi and hold discussions regarding granting Special Category Status to AP, come back here and tell the people that it will happen. I am an actor and can do drama. But I am not a dramabaaz. I am definitely unhappy with the Centre for not keeping their promise.

On his future political moves:

I am not going to join the BJP. There is no truth in the speculation that I will join that party. I won't kill the identity of Jana Sena Party. I am not after positions. I can form an organization right away and fill up positions. That's not my goal. I want to go into the people and pick up committed workers. I didn't contest elections in the past even though I could.

On Ram Gopal Varma:

I don't know how to react to his comments. I like him as a person. He is a great filmmaker. But he always wants me to be a picture perfect phenomenon. That's why he is frustrated. There is no inner circle of friends who are not letting him in my camp. I have no inner circle or outer circle.

On caste and politics:

Caste is a necessary evil at least for a few more years. We can't deny its relevance. We don't marry out of caste. We don't employ people outside our caste to the extent possible. If we go and tell people to ignore caste, it may backfire and lead to unintended consequences. At least 25 per cent of people should go for inter-caste marriage. If those at the helm do that, caste could become irrelevant in another 20 years' time.

On his personal life:

I don't want to talk about my personal life. I want to keep it to myself. I don't talk about my children and partner in public.
