'Poornodaya' Edida Nageshwara Rao passes away

Edida Nageshwara Rao who produced many classics such as Shankarabharanam, Siri Siri Muvva, and Swathimuthyam is no more. He breathed his last today evening in Star Hospital in Hyderabad. 81-year-old Edida Nageshwara Rao was suffering from ailments.

The family members announced that his last rites will be performed tomorrow at Mahaprasthanam in Filmnagar in Hyderabad.

He produced some of the all time classics made in Tollwyood on his banner Poornodaya Movie Creations. He had long association with director K Vishwanath and produced several memorable movies with him -  Siri Siri Muvva (1978), Sankarabharanam (1979), Sagara Sangamam (1983), Swati Mutyam (1986), Swayamkrushi (1987), Apadbaandhavudu (1992). Most of his movies had won National and Nandi awards.

He also made some of other classics such as Vamsi’s Sitara (1984) and Bharatiraja’s Seethakoka Chiluka (1981).

He had great taste for music, and fine arts. He refrained from making commercial masala entertainers and stuck to his philosophy of producing meaningful movies.

Though his productions were limited, his contribution to the Telugu film industry was immense. Edida Nageshwara Rao was a great producer who enriched the Telugu film industry with classics. May his soul rest in peace!
