Suspension row about Suresh Babu, clarification from Chamber

Tuesday, February 9, 2016 - 17:15

A City Civil Court in Hyderabad today ordered the suspension of election of D Suresh Babu as President of Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce on the grounds that he didn't pay Common Good Fund and a case by CCI is pending on him. So he didn't eligible for contesting the President's post, the judge observed.

As the news appeared in all media outlets, the representatives issued the following statement and clarified on the whole issue.

Today we came to know that Hon’ble City Civil Court, Hyderabad passed an order in an Election Case against Sri D. Suresh Babu (President of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce). The case was filed on two issues mainly. 1) Common Good Fund of Rs. 1460/- was not paid. 2) An Amount of Rs. 12,89,735/- penalty was imposed by Competitive Commission of India and the said amount was paid by Chamber. But the above two issues are incorrect as. 1) Common Good Fund was paid by individuals. 2) The Penalty was imposed on Chamber and not on D. Suresh Babu. 3) Appeal against CCI order was allowed infavour of Chamber and the amount was returned back. The order of the Hon’ble Civil Court is not received today. This information we received orally. We have all records to above issues.
