Chanakya: A disaster first weekend

Gopichand took a huge risk of releasing ‘Chanakya’ when ‘Sye Raa’ was in the theaters. It turned out to be a bad decision. The spy thriller has posted shocking low collections. In other words, audiences didn’t care to check out this movie. Many didn’t aware of this movie. It didn’t have any pre-release buzz.

‘Chanakya’ has collected just Rs 1.75 Cr share in two days. This is too low for a movie that starred an action star. The film that was released on Saturday didn’t even collect Rs 1 Cr share from Telugu states on the first day. The scenario on the second day is the same. The below Rs 2 Cr share in two days came as a huge shock to the trade.

It is a huge disaster. Gopichand has been going through a bad phase. This is another huge flop in his career. With the disaster result of ‘Chanakya’, it will be tough for the producers of his next films to do pre-release business.
