Day 1: Darbar takes superb start

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ took a terrific start at the box-office. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film has raked in about 4.50 crore share with a gross of Rs 7.5 crore. This is a good opening. Nizam and Vizag regions have fetched huge amounts. 

The film did a pre-release business of Rs 14.5 crore. Trade pundits are estimating that nearly half the amount will be recovered in the first two days itself. Rajinikanth’s style and mannerisms and the sentiment scenes have worked out well. 

Directed by AR Murugudoss, ‘Darbar’ has Nayanathara as heroine but it is Nivetha Thomas who stole the show as Rajinikanth’s daughter.
