During this lockdown period, people have shown interest to watch movies on digital streaming apps like Amazon, Hotstar and Netflix. Since the shootings have halted, the general entertainment channels could not air TV serials. While Star Maa, Gemini, and Zee Telugu have telecast old serials, ETV Telugu (which is also general entertainment channel) did air news bulletins to fill the programming space. This has paid rich dividends to it. ETV Telugu dominated in last week’s top programs.

Of the top ten programs, ETV news bulletins secured seven positions while Star Maa’s ‘Karthika Deepam’ garnered three slots.

24X7 Telugu news channels had seen a steep rise in their overall ratings in the last couple of weeks but didn’t capitalize on the current mood last week. They paled in comparison with ETV news bulletins and DD news.
