The usage of word ‘Gollabhama’ in the song ‘Rangamma Mangamma’ in ‘Rangasthalam’ has come in sharp criticism from Yadava community. A group representing the community of Yadavas say the word is demeaning the women of their community. They raised objections over using it and urged the makers to change the lyrics.

Although director Sukumar clarified that the word has two meanings – girl belonging to Yadava community as well as that of a grasshopper. He said the writer Chandrabose intended the word as ‘grasshopper’. Yet, they demanded the lyrics to be changed.

Hence, Chandrabose came forward to replace it with another sounding word ‘Goruvanka’.

It must be recalled that last year Brahmin associations objected to the words ‘Namakam Chamakam’ in the duet ‘Gudilo Badilo’ in ‘Duvvada Jagannaddham’. Owing to the demands of Brahmins, the makers changed the lyrics.
