Indie movies trying out luck this weekend

Wednesday, September 5, 2018 - 10:00

The trend of Indie movies (films made with no big producer, or supporter or studio backup) is slowly catching up in Telugu cinema industry. Of course, there is an argument that Indie movies concept itself is wrong for Telugu films as the industry has never been corporatized or has studio-line setup like Hollywood does.

However, the new age makers are calling their small movies as Indie flicks. This weekend two such films are testing their luck at box-office. They are ‘Care of Kancharapalem’ and ‘Manu’.

‘Care of Kancharapalem’ has been making lot of buzz thanks to the name of Rana who has added weight to this small movie was presenter and celebrities who had watched the film at preview shows have been raving it with glowing words. The film directed by debutant Venkatesh Maha is expected to take good start at box-office given the buzz and Rana’s aggressive promotion.

On the other hand, ‘Manu’ is a film is made with crowd-funding. It seems completely off-beat flick with new ideas. The film is said to have not much dialogues. Starring Chandini Chowdhary in the lead role, it has also made some buzz on social media though no one knows about it outside Twitter and Facebook.

Along with these two Indie movies, Sunil and Allari Naresh starrer ‘Silly Fellows’ is also releasing this weekend.
