Several buyers backed out from snapping up the rights of Mahesh Babu’s ‘Maharshi’ as the rate quoted for the rights was huge. Overseas distributors have been sulking that Mahesh Babu’s movies are not providing them any profits as the asking prices have shot up in the recent times. Though Mahesh Babu is favorite star for US Telugu audiences, producers have become greedy and have been demanding hefty amount for rights resulting losses or little profits to the buyers.

After many distributors have backed out, producer Dil Raju has handed over the movie to Great India films that distributed blockbusters such as ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’. This deal was closed. Great India got the movie for Rs 12 Cr. The company will have to pay share in profits after breaching the 15 Cr share mark.

‘Maharshi’ is set for release on May 9. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film narrates the story of a rich businessman named Rishi played by Mahesh Babu. Pooja Hegde is the heroine. Allari Naresh is playing Mahesh’s friend’s role.
