March: dull period at box-office

Friday, March 2, 2018 - 10:15

South Indian film industry has called for closing of theaters demanding total abolish of virtual front fee (VFF) from digital service providers. All five states in South India will not screen movies.

The timing of this so-called strike that was called for has raised suspicion. Traditionally, no major releases happen in early March as it is exams period for students. There is already criticism that the so-industry ‘influential producers’ have chosen this period for the same reason that it won’t affect the business anyway.

The collections hit all-time low from the last week. No major movies are scheduled for release till next two weeks either. Strike or no strike, this is complete dull time at ticket window.
