Nandi Awards 2013: Heavy lobbying for best actor

Monday, February 13, 2017 - 10:00

Even before bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the popular government awards Nandi Awards were stopped due to political turmoil. After 2014, both states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - were clueless as to which government should give the awards. Now AP government is going ahead to present Nandi Awards for year 2012 and 2013.

Recently committees were formed to select the award winners. A reliable source informed us that the jury members were split into two over the choice of Best Actor for year 2013. Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Venkatesh and Prabhas are top contenders for this award. Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh are in competition with their multi-starrer 'Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'. Pawan Kalyan's is consideration for the top award for the movie 'Atharintiki Daaredi' and Prabhas was for 'Mirchi'.

A reliable source told us that a top producer is heavily lobbying for his movie and his star. On the other hand, the jury is thinking of giving to another star. Interestingly, the jury members are also said to be in dilemma over the choice of Best Actress. Some members are said to be arguing that award should go to 'somewhat-deserving glamorous' actress than deserving 'non-glamorous' actress as when the awards are presented the dais would look 'colorful'.
