PM Modi declares nationwide lockdown till May 3rd

As expected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended the lockdown until 3rd May. The nationwide lockdown will continue with stricter restrictions in the next week. However, a decision will be taken to ease the restrictions in areas which showed improvement after 20th April. 

The new guidelines for the stricter restrictions will be announced tomorrow. 

On Monday, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 10,000. PM Modi lauded the efforts of state governments, health officials, other frontline warriors in fighting against the coronavirus. He said unlike developed nations, India had decided lockdown when had 550 coronavirus cases.
