Posters with bloated figures, the battle continues

Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - 13:30

The Sankranthi biggies Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’ have become huge money-spinners. For the first time in Tollywood’s history, two biggies had collected about Rs 30 crore each in the Nizam region in the Sankranthi region (one film got more, the other slightly less).

However, both the biggies have taken their battle to the social media by unleashing posters with bloated figures. They have been doing it from the very beginning and have not stopped even after ten days.

The other day ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ team had released Rs 200 crore gross poster and now ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’ had unveiled Rs 220 crore poster.

Both sides are releasing posters with collection figures with hyped numbers (adding more numbers to the actual collection) leading to an unhealthy fight between respective fans of the stars on social media. Who began this poster war is irrelevant but now both parties have taken the tamasha to the ugly side. People have now started doubting even the collection figures.

Unless we get a system like the USA collections (Comscore Rentrak), this Faking of collections would continue.
