2018 turned out to be the total opposite of 2017 for Sai Pallavi. Last year, she was the queen of Telugu cinema, barring Anushka. 'Fidaa' and 'MCA' were blockbuster hits.  Everyone readily gave her due credit. The Sekhar Kammula movie made her Tollywood's new hope. Even her dubbing skills were written about in the media.

This year, however, she has faced a BO litmus test, a test in which the qualified physician failed miserably.  AL Vijaya's 'Kanam' sank without a trace in Telugu. Its Tamil avatar too was a disappointment. She took comfort in the fact that she got to play a mother. But the role came at a cost.

The year ended on an even worse note. It was a double whammy on December 21 when 'Padi Padi Leche Manasu' in Telugu and 'Maari-2' in Tamil gave her two flops at a single stroke! The talented actress will hopefully become a queen once again with 'NGK', the Suriya starrer that is due for release in both Tamil and Telugu, in 2019.
