Bangalore Nagarathnamma was a renowned Carnatic singer. She among the last practitioners of Devadasi tradition. She was also a cultural activist. Her life is going to be made into a film. Veteran director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is all set to direct the movie and he has approached Anushka Shetty to essay the role of Bangalore Nagarathnamma.

Anushka has not signed the film. She is still mulling over it. 

The makers are also contemplating to rope in Samantha if Anushka doesn’t agree to play. At present, these two are seriously being considered for the biopic. 

Anushka wrapped up the shooting of ‘Nishabdham’ and is awaiting its release. She has not yet signed any other film. Samantha has signed a bilingual woman-centric film in the direction of Ashwin Saravanan.
