Sanjana to direct Karanam Malleswari biopic

Biopics on inspiriting personalities and sports legends are gaining popularity in Indian cinema. The life story of Karanam Malleswari, is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics (in 2000), is going to be unfolded on the silver screen with young director Sanjana Reddy helming the project.

The film to be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages will release next year. The film is likely to be officially announced on International Women’s Day. The biopic will jointly be produced by Kona Venkat and MVV Satyanarayana. A Bollywood production house is also joining hands. 

Born in Srikakulam, Malleswari inspired the new generation of Indian sportswomen. She is now settled in New Delhi.
