Shootings to resume first, releases can wait

Friday, May 1, 2020 - 15:45

The lockdown will end on 7th May in Telangana. But the same restrictions will continue for another two or three weeks in Hyderabad as the city is classified as a red zone by the union government. All the metro cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad are placed under the red zone. So, lockdown is going to continue.

So when will theaters start running shows? Tollywood producers have come to a decision that shootings should be resumed first. ‘RRR’, ‘Vakeel Saab’, ‘Solo Brathuke So Better”, ‘Krack’, ‘Alludu Adhurs’, ‘Love Story’, ‘Acharya’, Prabhas’s ‘Jaan’….these films have stopped their shootings due to lockdown. Some of these films are in the last leg of production.

Hence, the priority is to complete the shootings first.

When all these films wrap up their shootings, the producer’s council will decide on which date a film should hit the screens. The council and Producer’s Guild will monitor the releases till normalcy returns. As of things stand today, we can expect new releases only after August.
