Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry gets Padma Shri

Renowned lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, who is considered as one of the all-time great poets of Telugu film industry, will be receiving the prestigious Padma Shri award.
Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian awards in India, were announced today for year 2019. From Telugu cinema field, Sirivennela was announced as Padma Shri. Malayalam acting legend Mohanlal was awarded Padma Bhushan.
Seetharama Sastry debuted with ‘Sirivennela’ and that became his surname in the movie industry. Known for great poetic expression in lyrics, his songs are always meaningful. He frequently colloberated with great filmmakers like K Vishwanath, Ram Gopal Varma, Krishna Vamsi, Mani Ratnam, M S Raju and Trivikram Srinivas.
Seetharama Sastry also acted in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Gayam’ and also crooned songs in couple of films.
Among other prominent Padma Shree awardees from Indian movie industry are actor Manoj Bajpayee, Prabhu Deva, Sivamani and singer Shankar Mahadevan.
