Sye Raa closes business with Rs 8 Cr in Hindi

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Sye Raa’ is all set to become the all-time third or fourth biggest hit in Telugu states. But ‘Sye Raa’ has fared very badly in Hindi markets. By the end of ten days, the movie has almost completed its theatrical run. According to trade websites, the period drama collected Rs 7 Cr nett for its Hindi version in allover India and Rs 2 Cr nett for its Telugu version in North India. The Hindi version will close its business with Rs 8 Cr nett.
This is a big shock to the distributors of ‘Sye Raa’ in Hindi. Farhan Akthar and Anil Tadani have bought the rights and they are going to lose heavily. They made good money on ‘KGF’ earlier. Prabhas’s ‘Saaho’, on the other hand, did whopping Rs 150 crore theatrical revenue in North India.
Megastar Chiranjeevi had seen success in Bollywood as well in his heydays (in the 1990s) but he’s no longer popular in North India. The new generation in the Hindi belt has not seen any of his movies. Hence this film has failed to attract the audiences. Also, the promotion in Hindi markets was utterly bad.
