Uppena producers reject the OTT plan?

Theaters may not be opened for another two months. But the makers of ‘Uppena’ are willing to wait till the business comes back to normalcy. The producers of ‘Uppena’ say their film will not opt for direct digital release. Logically, the makers should release on OTT platforms since it features two newcomers. 

But there is a solid reason behind Mythri Movie Makers’ decision. Even though ‘Uppena’ has two newcomers in the lead role, the film’s budget is close to Rs 18 crore. If they bypass theatrical release and opt for OTT, would the streaming giants offer such a hefty amount for a movie that has no star value? Not possible.

This precisely is the reason why Mythri is not going for digital release. The film marks the debut of Vaishnav Tej, brother of Sai Dharam Tej. It has Krithi Shetty as the heroine. Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi features in a key role. Devi Sri Prasad’s music has become quite popular. 

Writer Buchi Babu is turning the director with this film.
