Varun Tej gets career-best opening with Valmiki

‘Valmiki’ aka ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’ took a flying start at the box-office. Amidst controversies, the film hit the screens on Friday proving that the last minute troubles didn’t affect it adversely. Witnessing terrific openings, the mass entertainer has taken a share of Rs 5.65 Cr on its first day.

The film won fairly decent reviews. Critics said it is a Harish Shankar’s brand of a mass entertainer. Based on Tamil dark comedy ‘Jigarthanda’, the director presented the movie with comedy and mass elements. Varun Tej has given his best performance.

Though the film has collected in terrific manner in domestic market, it took pretty ordinary gross in the USA. It grossed mere $84k from premiere shows.

For director Harish Shankar, this movie brings a boost to his career. He is planning to direct Pawan Kalyan’s re-entry movie. ‘Valmiki’ aka ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’ is first production of 14 Reels Plus.
