Varun Tej is gung ho about his first mass role

Varun Tej has played a full-blown mass role in his career for the first time in the upcoming release ‘Valmiki’. Directed by Harish Shankar, who is known for giving mass entertainers like ‘Gabbar Singh’, ‘Valmiki’ portrays Varun Tej in a role with negative shades. He has played the role of a gangster.
“Playing a mass role has given me a josh. Chiranjeevi Garu used to talk a lot about mass movies and I have now realized how gratifying it is,” he said.
The film is loosely based on the Tamil dark comedy ‘Jigarthanda’. Director Harish Shankar has changed the characterization and other sequences to make it a mass entertainer. This is the official remake of ‘Jigarthanda’.
Varun Tej has so far played classy roles. He is confident that the film would hit the bull’s eye. ‘Valmiki’ releases this Friday. It also stars Pooja Hegde, newcomer Krishna Manjusha, Atharvaa Murali, Mrinalini Ravi, and Dimple Hyathi.
