Great poet Chandala Kesavadasu's birth anniversary will now on be officially celebrated by the Telangana Government. For the unaware Kesavadasu is the lyricist of the first full-length Telugu movie 'Bhakta Prahalada'.

Kesavadasu wrote poetic verses and lyrics for the film 'Bhaktha Prahalada' that released in 1932. The honour of writing the first Telugu song 'Thanayaa ithulan thagaduraa palukaa' goes to this poet. Later on this iconic lyricist penned songs for many hit films in Telugu. He was born in Jakkepalli village in Kusumanchi Mandal in Khammam district in the state of Telangana.
