Bhaagamathie and Padmaavat prove their mettle

Saturday, January 27, 2018 - 14:00

Bhaagamathie, which hit the screens on Republic Day as a promising horror-thriller, elicited positive word of mouth after First Day First Show. Given that it's a holiday and a solo straight release in Telugu, it grew from strength to strength on Friday.

By night, the distributors and UV Creations were quite happy that the Anushka-starrer took to "big openings" in the Telugu states. In Kerala, the film managed to hold its ground despite the release of a film of a star son there. Occupancy was estimated to be ranging from 60-70 percent.

On the other hand, 'Padmaavat' (Telugu), too, is doing pretty well in AP and TS. Its visual richness, genre and controversy have all helped it gain momentum.  Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been liked by the Telugu audiences. Across India, it has made Rs. 56 Cr in two days (plus Wednesday's paid premiers).
