Sridevi's last rites performed

Superstar Sridevi is no more. The actress died in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai, at 11pm on Saturday. The cause of death was accidental drowning in a bath tub in the star hotel.

06:00 PM: Sridevi's mortal remains have been consigned to flames.

05:30: Family members bid final good-bye. The last rites were performed.

04:30 PM: The mortal remains of actress Sridevi has reached the crematorium. The last rites will commence shortly.

03:30 PM: The mortal remains of the actress is being taken to the crematorium. Fans have turned out in large numbers and the roads are blocked. Such is the love...such is the grief...

02:20 PM: The last journey of the departed actress has commenced. The truck has been decked completely in jasmine flowers as the actress loved them.

02.15 PM: Police has resorted lathi charge to control the crowd who have come in large numbers to pay last respects to their favorite actress Sridevi.
 
01.45 PM: Sridevi is dressed in her favourite Kanjeevaram red and golden saree for her final journey. Her body is kept in a glass casket. Final journey begins shortly.

01:20 PM: Sridevi's last rites will be performed with state honors. Sridevi will receive Guard Of Honour from the Maharashtra police. A police band will first wrap the mortal remains in the Indian Flag and will follow that up with 3 gun shots as a symbol of respect for the late actress.

01:00 PM: Vidya Balan breaks down at the prayer meet. Balan lost control of her emotions and broke down. Husband, Sidharth Roy Kapur was besides the actress and tried consoling her. Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Hema Malini, Deepika, Jaya Prada, John Abraham, Sidharth Malhotra, Kajol-Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit and others paid last respects.

10.30 PM: Megastar Chiranjeevi is in Mumbai, he has flown down to pay last respects to Sridevi.  Kollywood star Kamal Haasan is totally devastated. He has become very emotional. Kamal met Boney Kapoor and family last evening at Green Acres.

10:00 AM: Body reaches Celebration Sports Club. Star are paying homage. People have turned up in huge numbers to pay thier last repects to the departed.

10.30 PM: Sridevi's mortal remains have reached Mumbai from Dubai. Her body was brought back in a private jet. Her film-maker husband Boney Kapoor and stepson Arjun Kapoor came in the same private jet from Dubai. The body reached her residence Green Acres at 10.30 pm. Thousands of people came to her residence to see have the last glimpse of the great actress.

07:00 PM: Sridevi's last journey: private jet bringing her mortal remains to Mumbai. The body expected to reach around 10 pm.

Body will be kept at Green Acres Home in Mumbai.

06:30 PM: Sridevi's mortal remains are expected to reach Mumbai by 11 pm tonight. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon (Feb 28).

04:15 PM: Dubai Police have released official statement. They said she died accidentally after falling in bathtub under influence of alcohol. Statement: "Dubai Public Prosecution stressed that all regular procedures followed in such cases have been completed. As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. The case has now been closed."

03.30 PM: Sridevi death case was closed, say Dubai Police. Her mortal remains to return home shortly.

02:45 PM: Dubai police has given clearance letter to the Kapoor family. Her mortal remains will be handed over to the family now. They will now proceed for embalming.

01:00 PM: Boney Kapoor's son Arjun Kapoor left for Dubai. He flew this morning to be with his father at the hotel. The actor will stay till the formalities are being completed  and to oversee the return journey.

10.10 AM: The body is yet to arrive. Embalming of the body not yet done. There are chances of second autopsy.

01.00 AM: Sridevi's mortal remains might be released on Tuesday morning.

00.20 AM: Some reports said Dubai Police took statement of Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor on Monday night. However, Khaleej Times reported that he was not interrogated by Dubai Police.

21:00 PM: The latest reports say Sridevi's mortal remains may not reach Mumbai tonight as Dubai Police have not finished questioning her husband Boney Kapoor yet.

06:45 PM: Reports suggest that the chance of releasing Sridevi's body today seems to be slim. The Kapoor family members in Dubai are waiting for the approvals from Dubai Public prosecutor.

05:30 PM: The Dubai Police has transferred the case to Dubai Public Prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures followed in such cases.

04: 42 PM: Reports suggest death due to accidental drowning. Alcohol traces have been found in the blood. The mortal remains will be moved to embalming unit in another one hour.

03:30 PM: Family submits a sealed envelope to the Police. Cops to give repartriation clearance. Family to collect mortal remains soon.

03:00 PM: Boney Kapoor returns to hotel.

1:15 PM: Blood reports yet to be given to the cops. Formalities are not complete as yet.

1: 00 PM: The officials are hopeful that Sridevi's body will be ready for repatriation with all the procedures completed by 1 to 2pm, Dubai time.

12:15 PM: Mortal remains are not handed over to the family. Still kept in the mortuary. Indian Consulate has issued a statement that it might be evening when the body will be handed to the family. Death Certificate not issued as yet.

11.45 AM: Mortal remains to be expected by evening. Room in the hotel has been marked by the investigators as crucial spot. Alcohol content will be checked. Blood tests will be conducted. Formalities are yet to be completed. Autopsy report will now to out by noon.

11.15 AM: Reports say funeral will happen tomorrow at 11 am.

11 AM: The autopsy report will be out soon. Autopsy conducted at the Dubai Hospital. Mortal remains will be brought to Mumbai. Her mortal remains will be kept in the Bhagyam bunglow for public viewing. Anil Ambani's private jet has flown yesterday to get the departed's body along with the family members who are in Dubai.
