Madhavi Latha joins BJP, answers critics

Madhavi Latha, the actress of 'Nacchavule' and 'Snehitulu' fame, is remembered more in recent days for wading into the Pawan Kalyan - Sri Reddy controversy. She did deeksha in support of Pawan Kalyan. She has also been vocal about Telugu girls' prospects in Telugu film industry.

The news is that the actress is now a proud BJP member.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today formally initiated her into the party. "Officially joining in the presence of central minister Nitin Gadkari.  Happy to be part of the national party," the actress said on Facebook. Later, Gadkari’s Twitter handle also posted a photo of Kumari Madhavi Latha joining the party.

After she was saffronized, many of her social media followers lampooned her for the choice. Defending herself, Madhavi said that every one of her family members subscribes to different parties but they all remain united. "Just because I am part of a political party, it doesn't mean that my personality will change from now. I am what I am. And I will always be the same person," she said.

Did she join politics to make loads of money? "In politics, you have to spend your own money! Celebrity life is about royal treatment. But politics is about spending money from your own pocket," she commented.
