Telugus showered so much love on me: Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth, who was in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming release ‘Kaala’, said that Telugu filmmakers encouraged him so much in the beginning of his career and shaped up his professional life.
“My first film was ‘Antuleni Katha’ in Telugu. Later I did nearly 15 films in Telugu. I chose to remain in Kollywood as I was introduced by K Balachander garu in Tamil. However, from ‘Pedarayudu’ and ‘Baasha’, every film of mine got released in Telugu and succeeded in big way. Telugus showered so much love on me,” Rajinikant recalled his association with Telugu movies.
‘Kaala’ is directed by Pa Ranjith of ‘Kabali’ fame and it is produced by Dhanush. The mafia drama stars Eeshwari Rao and Bollywood starlet Huma Qureshi as the female lead.
Dhanush in his speech said there is none like Rajinikanth in the movie industry. To this Rajinikanth replied, “there is no one like Chiranjeevi or Nagarjuna or Balayya or Venkatesh either. Every star is unique and is inimitable.”
Rajinikanth also recalled his long association with late Dasari. “After Balachander, he was like second guru to me. I miss him. I used to regularly go to NTR’s house when he was alive. I have long association with Hyderabad.”
On ‘Kaala’, he said that director Ranjith has narrated the movie in engaging manner. “There are four or five interesting characters which will connect to every section of audiences. Ranjith will hit the bull’s eye this time. Dhanush is not only a good actor he is also splendid producer,” he praised his team.
‘Kaala’ is releasing in Tamil and Telugu on 7th June simultaneously.
