Nearly 40 people have died in the torrential rains and landslides that have ravaged Kerala. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appealed for assistance to aid rescue and rehabilitation. And from Tollywood, rising star Vijay Deverakonda has donated Rs 5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

He also urged his fans to contribute. “Rowdies, let's all pitch in small amounts and we may make a huge change to someone like us in Kerala. Here, I'll start us off with 5,00,000/-,” he tweeted.

Tamil actors Suriya and Karthi have also come forward to contribute a total sum of Rs 25,00,000 to Kerala Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund.
