Varun Tej is in dilemma about budget?

Monday, September 3, 2018 - 12:00

Biggest hit in Varun Tej’s career so far is ‘Fidaa’, directed by Sekhar Kammula that nearly collected Rs 50 Cr worldwide. His next film ‘Tholi Prema’ barely collected Rs 18 Cr. Which means his average market strength is in the range of Rs 18 to 20 Cr (theatrical revenue). So, the makers would think twice making films with more Rs 20 cr budget with him given his current market value.

However, young and talented director Sagar Chandra of ‘Appatlo Okadundevadu’ narrated a story that is terrific. Itch is the film, a period story set in Telangana, needs lot of graphical work and large sets. The director reportedly told the budget that is much more than Varun Tej’s current market value.

Production house 14 Reels that is producing the film is in two minds now about the budget. Varun Tej who is also acting in high budgeted space thriller ‘Anthariksham’ wants to wait some more time before taking Sagar Chandra’s movie to the sets. If ‘Anthariksham’ turns into big hit and increases his market, Varun Tej will take decision of Sagar Chandra’s movie. Or the director has to slash the budget.
