Kodi Ramakrishna passes away

Kodi Ramakrishna, veteran director of films such as Arundhati, Ahuti, Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya, Devi, Shatruvu and Devullu, is no more. He was undergoing treatment for infection in lungs at AIG hospital in Gachibowli in Hyderabad. He breathed his last on Friday in hospital. He was 70.

He had directed 140 films in varied genres.

A disciple of Dasari Narayana Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna debuted as director with Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya’ that ran for nearly 500 days. He later directed small movies like ‘Tarangini’ and ‘Mukkupudaka’. He introduced actors like Arjun Sarja, Suman, Bhanu Chander, Gauthami, Babu Mohan, Costume Krishna and Rami Reddy.

He directed several hit movies of Nandamuri Balakrishna. ‘Mangamma Gaari Manavadu’, ‘Muddula Krishna’ and ‘Muddula Mamayya’…..these three films in their combination were sensational hits and each film had run for more than a year.

Other notable works of Rama Krishna are Ankusham, Iraviva Satabadam, Bharat Bandh and Anji.

Kodi Ramakrishna introduced VFX-rich movies to Telugu film industry. His ‘Ammoru’, ‘Devi’, ‘Devi Putrudu’ and ‘Arundhati’ were the films that brought craze to graphics movies.
