Weekend BO: Ranarangam and Evaru

Sharwanand starrer gangster drama ‘Ranarangam’ and Adivi Sesh’s ‘Evaru’ competed with each other last weekend on the eve of Independence Day. While ‘Evaru’ won good reviews, ‘Ranarangam’ received mixed reviews. At the box-office, ‘Ranarangam’ got better ‘figure’ thanks to its stunning first-day collection on August 15. However, it is ‘Evaru’ that picked up later in A centers and also in the USA market. 
 
‘Ranarangam’ has shown its better performance in mass centers but has completely crashed in the overseas market. The film didn’t even touch $100k in its opening weekend in the USA. On the other hand, ‘Evaru’ took in nearly $350k in its opening weekend.
 
Overall, ‘Evaru’ has collected a whopping Rs 7 Cr share worldwide in its first weekend. It has chances of easily entering into profits as there is no competition till the arrival of ‘Saaho’ on August 30. The film was made with Rs 8 Cr. 
 
On the other hand, ‘Ranarangam’ has collected Rs 8.55 Cr in its first weekend worldwide. Had the film performed better in the USA, it would have better placed. Now, it has to hold the collections from now onwards to reach the break-even stage. It was sold for Rs 17 Cr.
