Akhil's current film (tentatively titled 'Junnu') has acquired the distinction of becoming the first movie to have completed shooting in Hyderabad Metro Rail. The Hyderabad Metro has not commissioned its operations commercially, though trail runs have been going on.

Hollywood action stunts choreographer Bob Brown, popular for films like 'Se7en', 'Iron Man', and 'Terminator 2', has completed a major action sequence on the Metro rail. Akhil participated in the filming of this action sequence.

Vikram Kumar of 'Manam' fame is directing the film. Nagarjuna is producing it on Annapurna Studios banner.
