Rajinikanth

Amidst speculations that Superstar Rajinikanth is looking at connecting with fans ahead of his political entry, the actor earlier today said in an address to fans (his first connect in 8 years) that he "will enter politics if God wills it".

This 'conditions apply' style is nothing new. Rajini has been saying this for as many years as you can remember. However, today's speech carried greater impact because he said that if and when he enters politics, he won't let the corrupt come near him.

Putting the ball in God's court, Rajini said that God wants him to do movies right now.

Months after TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa passed away, he claimed to have made a mistake "21 years ago" by throwing his weight behind a political alliance. Describing it as an "accident" (he had sensationally said in 1996 that Jaya being voted will be an irreversible blunder), Rajini averred that his name has since been misused by politicians.

He made this statement to drive home the point that he is politically neutral as of now. In his style, Rajini did a 'hitha bodha' to fans. Asking them to give up smoking, the '2.0' actor said, "I myself have been affected by drinking."

Done with '2.0', Rajini will shoot from May 28 for Kabali director Ranjith's next, which was recently in news due to a Haji Mastan controversy.
