Kola Balakrishna debut film 'Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam', which was appreciated in Tamil, is hitting the screens in Telugu as 'Nannu Vadili Neevu Polevule' on 1st April. The soft-spoken actor is optimistic that the film will be lapped up by the target audience for sure. In this interview, the fledgling actor talks about his role, how films happened to him, his acting guru, and more.

How did you develop interest in acting?

When I was in class IV, I appeared in Naaga, the NTR film. When I saw myself in the teaser of the film, it struck me. Since then, I had a fascination for seeing myself on the big screen. I enjoyed it because people started recognizing me. The desire started growing.

What is your film like? Who should watch it?

'Nannu Vadili Neevu Polevule' is a youthful entertainer. There is a feel of 7/G Brindavan Colony. It's targeted at youngsters, newly-married couple, IT crowds, and, to put it in a lighter vein, all those who while away time doing nothing.

How was it working with a Selvaraghavan?

He is the writer of the film, while his wife Githanjali ma’am is the director. I have learnt many things from Selvaraghavan sir.  I received lot of encouragement from him, besides from my dad. He is like my acting guru. I didn't know anything when I started off.  It's Selvaraghavan sir who taught me everything very patiently. He told me,'Don't worry, I will teach you everything'. He taught me everything right from the pauses one should give after the director says 'cut'. There is so much to learn from him. He is like a book. I can't forget him for the rest of my life.

What are your expectations from the movie?

The film was a big hit in Tamil. I hope the audience will give me a hit here as well.

Tell us about the highlights.

The script itself is a highlight. Besides, Amruth's music and Sridhar's cinematography are nice. Kalyan Master's choreography is another highlight.

How was it working with Wamiqa Gabbi?

She is an energetic girl, and a passionate actress. She has given a very good performance.

What are your upcoming movies?

I have a Telugu-Tamil bi-lingual in the pipeline. Besides, I am in talks to sign a straight Telugu film, and a straight Tamil film.  We will announce them soon.

What kind of films do you want to do in future?

I want to do all kinds of movies, but biopics like Bhaag Milka Bhaag, and suspense thrillers interest me more.
