Director Sampath Nandi who shot to fame with Rachcha starring Ram Charan has come up with another masala movie titled Bengal Tiger which is releasing this weekend (Dec 10). He spoke to the media about the movie and his career in general.

Tell us about Bengal Tiger?

It is commercial entertainer. The characterization of the hero is unique. That is what made Ravi Teja agree to the movie. According to Ravi Teja, the highlights of the movie would be apart from his characterization, five minutes flash back episode and interval bang.

Main concept of the movie?

It is fight between two intelligent people. The uniqueness of this story is both hero and villain are highly intelligent. We are not showing the villain as dumb. The game between these intelligent people is what the movie is all about. There is another angle that we would reveal now. The villain role is performed by Bollywood actor Boman Irani. I wrote this character keeping him in mind. Luckily he liked the story and acted in our movie.

Story behind the title?

The title denotes the bravery of the hero. Bengal Tiger the animal is popular for its roar and the power. The characteristics of this animal can be seen in the characterization of our hero in the movie. Hence we chose this title.

Tell us about your equation with Ravi Teja?

As everyone knows Ravi Teja is a good-natured person. He is darling of the upcoming directors. I didn't have much interaction with him until I narrated the storyline. It was he who called and congratulated me after the release of my first film, Yemaindi Ee Vela.

You seem to have special bonding with the producer!

Yes, Producer Radha Mohan is the main reason for me becoming a director. He produced a movie called Toss for which I was the writer. He liked my ideas from then onwards and helped me making Yemaindi Ee Vela. Since then we have bonded thick.

Why did you walk away from Gabbar Singh 2?

I didn't walk away, things just didn't work out. I went to Pawan Kalyan with my own story but he asked me to direct Gabbar Singh 2. I was thrilled. The story was Pawan's and but somehow it didn't work out. During those two years, I have learned a lot from Powerstar and developed more admiration for his intelligence. I have also taken some filmmaking tips from him. We parted ways in friendly manner.

So will you be working with him again?

I  would love to. Actually it is my dream to direct Pawan Kalyan. I will be narrating another script next year to Powerstar.
