'Supreme warrants no comparisons'

Sai Dharam Tej is going strong. Two days ahead of the release of 'Supreme', the Mega hero talks about the kind of films he wants to do, working with Anil Ravipudi and Raashi Khanna, whether 'Supreme' has similarities with 'Gang Leader' or 'Pasivadi Pranam', and more.  

You are four films old. How do you describe your films?

'Rey' was a musical entertainer,'Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham' was a romantic entertainer and 'Subrahmanyam For Sale' was a family entertainer. 'Supreme' is an out-and-out commercial entertainer, which will make you laugh all throughout.  

How did Megastar Chiranjeevi react when you went to meet him after the title was decided?

I was nervous when 'Supreme' was fixed to be the title. I went to mavayya and told him that my movie's name is 'Supreme'. He simply advised me to work hard. It was because of his encouragement that I got the boost. I have worked harder than I did for my earlier movies.  

So, what drew you to the script?

Anil Ravipudi is a director who can balance both emotional content and commercial elements. He has got lots of clarity. When he narrated the script, I could see an emotion persisting throughout. That's the reason why I okayed the script.

The makers have been talking about the child artist. What is his place in the story?

Yes, there is child sentiment in the movie. The way the child artist has performed, it's outstanding.  

Whose idea was it to do a remix of 'Andam Hindolam' song?

It was a proposal first put forward by the director. Anil Ravipudi felt that since the title is 'Supreme', it wouldn't make sense without remixing the song. The number has been shot with the aim of matching up to the original in terms of quality.  

Are you open to do more and more remixes in future?

I am neither for nor against doing remixes. The idea has to come from the director. If he feels we should do, I am game.  

There is a quirk about your character in the film.

Yes, I hate people honking their vehicle. If someone does that, I go crazy and make them see horror. There is a reason behind that. You should wait for the movie's release to know the reason.  

Coming to the character Bellam Sridevi played by Raashi Khanna, what is her part in the story?

She is definitely not a run-of-the-mill heroine. She is playing a cop, who does comedy. I must say that Raashi has a very good comic timing.  

Have you been inspired by Chiranjeevi's character in 'Gang Leader'? And is the story inspired by 'Pasivadi Pranam'?

In 'Supreme', I have only played the role of a taxi driver, which the story needs. It warrants no comparisons. Enough comparisons have been made (Smiles). There is no need for more comparisons to be created. As for the story bearing any resemblance to 'Pasivadi Pranam', there is nothing of that sort.  

What are your upcoming projects?

'Thikka' is my current project. I have also given nod for a movie in the direction of Gopichand Malineni.
