Birthday star Vijay Deverakonda Unplugged

Wednesday, May 9, 2018 - 00:15

Vijay Deverakonda has become heartthrob for youngsters. The handsome hunk connected to youth with the films like 'Pelli Choopulu' and 'Arjun Reddy'. However, he has taken up different kind of movies now. He turns a year older today (May 9). He will also be seen in 'Mahanati' that hit the screens today. The birthday star spoke to us. Excerpts from the chitchat..

Success has changed me from time to time

Many say that Arjun Reddy's success has gone to my head. But I feel that I have changed a lot as a person and react to different things individually. Everything depends on the way things are pushed at me. I won't hesitate to reject a script if I don't like even though it comes from a top production house. I have become more sensible now.

Did Mahanati only because of the love for Swapna and Nag Ashwin

I only did Mahanati because of my love towards Swapna and Nag. They were the ones who gave me my biggest break and now with 'Mahanati', they wanted me to play Gemini Ganesan's role as Dulquer said no it. I was not prepared for that role at all but I got safe as Dulquer jumped at the last minute and said yes to the project. As I wanted to be a part of the project, I did a small cameo of a journalist along with Samantha.

Taxiwaala is a hatke film..

So much is being said about my film 'Taxiwaala'. Many have so many assumptions about the film. All I want to say is that it is not your regular dance and song film. It is a wacky thriller where I am a taxi driver who gets into all sorts of troubles with my car. The manner in which I face these issues has been showcased in a very new age and gripping manner. This one's for the youth completely.

Doing a Tamil film was a deliberate attempt

Arjun Reddy changed a few things and also brought in many offers. My Tamil debut happened only because of Geetha Arts who shared a very close relationship with studio green. As soon as I heard that script of 'NOTA', my eyes lit up as I was playing a very aggressive character after 'Arjun Reddy'. Tamil and Telugu are more or less the same. Once again, I am looking at films which challenge me as an actor and here the language itself is a huge one and I am game for it.

My film with Bharath Kamma is a gripping love story

For all those who are sick of seeing me in serious roles, my film with Bharat Kamma will be an out and out love story. We have named the film 'Dear Comrade' and this will show me at a new angle completely. I am consciously making sure that each of my films is different from one another and this film will be really different from others in terms of making and narration.

No interest in Bollywood as of now

Many have been asking me when I can do a Tamil film, why not do a Bollywood film and that too the remake of Arjun Reddy itself. My take on this is that Bollywood films are a different ball game altogether as the sensibilities are different. For the time being, I am not interested in Hindi films and am eagerly looking forward to seeing how Vikram's son and Shahid Kapur reprise my role of Arjun Reddy.
