I am a good copycat: Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna awaits the release of 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' on January 11. In this interview, she talks about her character, experience of working with Mahesh Babu, her upcoming movies and more.

What is your character like in the movie?

As the film's trailer denotes, I am after the hero, beseeching him to love me. I am naughty in the movie. She is extremely comical and dramatic. I have done a full-fledged comic role for the first time. My signature mannerisms like 'Meeku arthamouthondha' and 'I am impressed' are fun. I also habitually say 'Never before-uu, never after-uu' with Sangeetha garu.

What made you accept the movie?

When the director gave the narration, he clearly explained my character and also enacted my part and Sangeetha garu's part.  There is a strong reason behind my character behaving the way she does.I am a good copycat.  I told my director to simply enact my part so that I can imitate him.  

What kind of interactions were you having with Mahesh?

It was fun working with him. Mahesh garu has watched my 'Chalo', 'Geetha Govindam', and 'Dear Comrade' as well. Also, it was enjoyable dancing with Mahesh Babu garu. I hope the audience will love my dance.

It seems you have got along pretty well with Vijayashanthi in a short time.

Yes.  I bonded with her during the Kerala schedule, when I had the opportunity to observe her. She is highly energetic and professional. I would take tips from her regarding dialogue delivery and dancing.

It is said that you have become friends with Sitara (Mahesh's daughter).

I, Sitara and Aadhya used to be a gang on the set of the film. There would be no secrets between us.

What are your upcoming movies?

'Bheeshma' opposite Nithiin is gearing up for a release on February 21.  I am also doing Sukumar's movie opposite Allu Arjun. Two other movies are currently under discussion.
